6 Emmy Nominations for IdahoPTV
Peter Morrill
-On Thursday evening, April 14, the National Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences, Northwest Chapter announced the 2011 Emmy Award
Nominations at the Idaho Black History Museum in Boise. I’m very pleased to let
you know that Idaho Public Television was honored with six nominations
including for a second year in a row overall Station Excellence. The following
are the nominees as announced by NATAS:
Station Excellence: Idaho Public Television • Peter Morrill, General Manager
Historic/Cultural - Program/Special: Capitol of Light • Idaho Public Television • Bruce Reichert, Executive Producer
Health/Science - Program/Special: Outdoor Idaho: Eating Local • Idaho Public Television • Thanh Tan, Producer/Writer
Public/Current/Community Affairs - Program/Special: Outdoor Idaho: Wilderness in the 21st Century • Idaho Public Television • Bruce Reichert, Executive Producer
Documentary - Historical: Outdoor Idaho: Wooden Boats, Wonderous Lakes • Idaho Public Television • John Crancer, Producer/Writer
Writer - Program: Joan Cartan-Hansen • Idaho Public Television
These honors are another indication of the deep and broad tradition of content creation at IdahoPTV. Although individuals are mentioned in the nominations, it obscures the fact that a team of exceedingly talented people actually are responsible for the overall quality of our projects.
The Station Excellence nomination is especially notable given the other six nominees are all Seattle and Portland broadcasters. IdahoPTV was the only public television nominee from the northwest region including Washington, Oregon, Montana, Alaska and Idaho.
The Emmy Award winners will be announced on Saturday, June 11 in Seattle. We’ll keep you posted how we do!
