Shashi Tharoor

Host Marcia Franklin interviews Shashi Tharoor, a former U.N. diplomat who is now involved in assisting businesses in his native country of India. Tharoor, who was an assistant to Kofi Annan and the Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information at the United Nations, ran for Secretary-General in 2006, losing to Ban Ki-moon of Korea.

The author of dozens of articles and 11 books, Tharoor talks with Franklin about the themes of his latest book on India, The Elephant, the Tiger and the Cell Phone, which looks at the cultural and political evolution of that country. They also discuss his concerns about terrorism, and his aspirations to run for office in India.
