Hemker Biography
Tom
is a wildlife biologist for the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.
He has worked for the Department for 20 years and has had a variety
of jobs during that time. He started as a big game research biologist
in Soda Springs, worked in Pocatello as a local biologist working
on all species and their habitat and currently works in Boise supervising
the Department's programs for small game and habitat including over
200,000 acres of state wildlife management areas.
Tom
was born in Utah and has lived in several different parts of the West.
As a child he spent lots of time outdoors and camped in every western
state and Canada. Today, he enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing, mountaineering
and just about anything that gets him outdoors.
He
has a degree in biology from the University of California, Davis and
a master's degree in wildlife ecology from Utah State University where
he studied mountain lions. He and his wife, also a biologist, live
in Boise with their 2 children.
