Joseph J. Feeley is Professor and Chair of the Department of Electrical
and Computer Engineering at the University of Idaho. He has a bachelor’s
degree in electrical engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology,
and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the
University of Idaho. Dr. Feeley has been a faculty member at the
University of Idaho since 1983 and has eighteen years of prior experience
as an electrical engineer in industry. His main area of expertise
is the modeling and control of dynamic systems. He has worked on
research projects involving nuclear submarines, nuclear power plants,
air-to-air missiles, computer system disk drives, magnetic actuators,
magnetic bearings, paper-making machines, and autonomous vehicles.
Dr. Feeley was a visiting scholar at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne,
England, in 1994-95. His current research is related to the coordinated
control of fleets of small autonomous submarines.
