"Mike McCurry is a Professor of Geology at Idaho State University, where he teaches about, and conducts research on, volcanoes and their roots.

Raised in the Pacific Northwest, he owes a life-long passion for volcanoes and related processes to family rock collecting trips to eastern Oregon, and outings to beautiful dormant volcanoes of the Pacific Northwest.

His research has taken him to exotic regions of active volcanism in northeast China and southern Chile, and to ancient volcanic terrains of the western United States, particularly near Yellowstone National Park."
