Randy
Eardley Biography
I began my fire
career in 1974 as a member of a fire crew. Between 1974 and 1985 I held
a variety of positions within the fire program, including as a fire
crew member, wildland fire engine driver, operator of a fire lookout,
manager of a remote fire guard station, and in fire aviation as an Air
Tactical Group Supervisor. Having left for 6 years to work as a journalist,
I returned to fire aviation and my work in the airplane in 1991.
Beginning in 1992,
I was able to combine my fire experience and journalism in a role as
lead fire information and education specialist and spokesman/media specialist
for the Lower Snake River District BLM. I currently manage the fire
information, prevention and education programs for the BLM in southwest
Idaho. I am also a member and team leader for the National Wildland
Fire Prevention and Education Teams and I've been involved in projects
with the team in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and Idaho.
