Scott Ransom

Scott Ransom has been the Zoo Director at the Pocatello Zoo, Pocatello, ID since 1996, and he also is the Executive Director of the Pocatello Zoological Society. The Pocatello Zoo specializes in animals native to the Intermountain West. Scott Ransom is a member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association. He grew up in Ohio, graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Zoology, then moved to California to work at the Glendale Humane Society for 5 years as a State Humane Officer, Supervisor of Animal Control, and Director of Humane Education.

His zoo career began at the Los Angeles Zoo, working 7 years as Zoo Keeper, Lead Zoo Keeper, Associate Curator, and Assistant Coordinator of Construction. This was followed by one year as Curator of Animals at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, in Eatonville, WA, and then almost 12 years as Assistant Zoo Director at Chaffee Zoological Gardens, Fresno, CA.
