Qualifications: 30 years of age; Reside within state for 2 years preceding election; Must be admitted to the practice of law within state at least 10 years prior to taking office

Salary: $119,500 as of July 1, 2008
Duties: The Supreme Court is the state's court of last resort. The Court hears appeals of final decisions of the district courts, as well as orders of the Public Utilities Commission and the Industrial Accident Commission. It has original jurisdiction to hear claims against the state, and to issue writs of review, mandamus, prohibition and habeas corpus, and all writs necessary for complete exercise of its appellate jurisdiction. The Court may also review decisions of the Court of Appeals, upon petition of the parties or upon its own motion.
