Excellence in the Arts
Ballet IdahoThe founding Artistic Director Jaye Petrick started Ballet Idaho twenty-seven years ago in Moscow, Idaho, as Ballet Folk of Moscow. It has grown over three decades, and during the six-years of Toni Pimble's artistic direction has been transformed into a million-dollar professional company and school.
Ms. Pimble was accredited at the Royal Academy of Dancing in London. She has received numerous awards and commissions including two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships. . . and she was oneof only ten choreographers selected nationwide for the prestigious New York City Ballet Diamond Project Premiere.
The Ballet Company's twenty full-time professional dancers are in-residence at the Esther Simplot Performing Arts Academy in Boise. The Ballet Idaho Academy has more than five-hundred-and-fifty students and this year, students from six states traveled to Idaho to enroll.
Ballet Idaho launched its educational outreach program four years ago and already provides our state with school residencies, school assemblies, classes for at-risk youth, youth with disabilities, adult life-long learning programs and education tours throughout Idaho.
The company's regional reputation continues to grow. Each year, Ballet Idaho company members perform in six states to a total audience of one-hundred-and-twenty-thousand. But they are most loved here on their hometown stage, the Morrison Center.
Governor Dirk Kempthorne personally thanks Toni Pimble for coordinating the Governor's Arts Awards production and confers upon Ballet Idaho the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts.
