Arrival of the salmon
View video stream of journal entry.
There was great joy with the natives last night in consequence of the arrival of the salmon. One of those fish was caught; this was the harbinger of good news to them. They informed us that these fish would arrive in great quantities in the course of about five days.
We obtained four dogs and as much wood as answered our purposes on moderate
terms.

Several Indians applied to me today for medical aid, one a broken arm,
another inward fevers and several with pains across their loins, and sore
eyes. I administered as well as I could to all.
