INSTRUCTIONAL TELEVISION FOR THE CLASSROOM
Our Instructional Television (ITV) block feeds provide teachers and students with (free!) video resources that enhance and stimulate interest in the curriculum. Students experience cultures, places and ideas they might otherwise not have access to and teachers have access to high quality videos they can afford and professional development resources to use at their convenience. Plus, many of the ITV series have teacher guides and lesson plans that are available either on the web or by mail.
The Technology Toolbox – A Guide for Using TV in the Classroom is produced and distributed to teachers in Idaho throughout the school year. The Toolbox provides you with episode information, program highlights, and curriculum connections for using Idaho Public Television and PBS video resources in the classroom. Video has particular strengths in motivating investigation, stimulating discussion, and creating a context for more detailed information. Couple high-quality programs from Idaho Public Television and PBS with their associated web-sites, and this classroom "tool-box" is looking good! Also available in PDF for you to download!
Is there a Reading Rainbow show that would illustrate a concept or highlight an author for your students? Set your VCR to record! The school record rights for Reading Rainbow are for a year. Miss taping a show? The Idaho State Library has all of the Reading Rainbow videos available for school use via interlibrary loan!
