Holocaust Unit

Dear Parents,

Beginning on ______________ we will be starting a unit on the Holocaust. We are looking forward to the historic information and activities that we will cover. Students will explore various roles of those who were affected by the Holocaust. The students will keep journals and record their thoughts about the incidents that they explore. We will also read the book, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry and write journal entries pertaining to the book. Along with writing in journals and reading Number the Stars, we will watch very specific parts of the movie Schindler's List. Great thought went into choosing which excerpts to watch such as the conditions of travel in the railroad cars. Attached is a permission slip that must be signed by both the parent and student agreeing to participate in the unit and to watch the movie, Schindler’s List.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact us. Please know that there will be alternative activities for those students that will not watch the movie. These activities include pictures and other assignments that will allow them to gain the important information that will be covered throughout the movie. Thank you again for your cooperation as we study this important historical time.
