Online Guide to the Innards of Fireworks Sheet

From the "fireworks" web
page, click on the "Name that Shell" link in the center of the page.
Now click on the QuickTime link on the right hand side of the page where it
says "Go to Name that Shell using: QuickTime." Which does your firework most
likely portray?
Use your mouse and explore the different types of fireworks by clicking on the
different video clips.
Look through them all and try to figure out which one is which.

See if you are right by clicking on "Answer" at the end. This brings up a new
screen with the answers. To close this screen, click on the X in the upper right
corner. When you are done, click on the "Fireworks" home link on the side of
the page.
Click on the "Anatomy of
a Firework" link that is below the "Name that Shell". Read and follow the directions
indicated in the new window. Don't forget to read the 2nd and 3rd pages if they
are applicable. Go through all the parts of the diagram. Click on the X in the
upper right corner when you are done to close this window. Click on the "Fireworks"
home link on the left of the screen.

4. Click on the link "On Fire (56K)" link. Read this page then click
on the "Go to On Fire" link. Read and follow the directions for this new window.
Click on the X in the upper right corner when you are done to close this window.
Click on the "Fireworks" home link to return to the home page. Choose one of
the reactions that would happen in your firework (from the chemicals that make
up your colors, gunpowder, or the glitter, smoke, etc.). Write that equation
below and a brief description of the effect that it gave your firework. (You
may have to complete the next step in this worksheet before knowing completely
what your reaction is.)
5. Now go to http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/kaboom . Click on "Pyrotechnics: It's Elemental." Read through this and then click on the different raised elements to see how they are involved in fireworks. Once you have looked at one, click on the X in the upper right corner to close that screen and return to the periodic chart. Repeat this until you have all the information for your firework. This page should give you all the elements that are contained in your colors. List those colors and elements that cause the colors here (this is also the Legend for your design):
