(Jim Matlock says he and his buddies used a cable car to reach some hot springs on the other side of the Salmon River. Occasionally, they used the cable car for something besides transportation.)

When we wanted to see how turbulent the water was, we brought out an orange crate and dropped it in the river, somewhere in the middle. And we had people located downstream to see the orange crate as it showed up. And all we ever saw was a piece about the size of your hand.
