Amos Berg in first rubber raft on the Middle Fork of the Salmon

In 1939 a group of men led by Doc Frazier ran the Middle Fork. Most of the men piloted wooden boats, but Amos Berg took the first rubber raft down the Middle Fork. Supposedly he told someone he ran the trip wearing oxfords that he never got wet! The group took sixteen days to go all the way to Riggins Hot Springs.
