Idaho Public Television will air the two-hour special Caring For Your Parents on Wednesday, April 2, at 9:00 p.m. MT/PT. The first 90 minutes of the documentary, which was written and produced by award-winning television journalist Michael Kirk, a former Idahoan, looks at the complexity of shifting caregiver roles.
In the final 30 minutes of the show, medical correspondent Dr. Art Ulene leads a panel discussion that offers concrete advice and guidance on how to start the conversation about eldercare — often the most difficult step in caregiving.
Local experts on aging and trained AARP volunteers will take viewer calls throughout the two-hour program. These Idaho residents are familiar with in-state resources and how to meet caregiving challenges. IdahoPTV will provide more than 15 phone lines to accept calls. Viewers can call toll-free to (800) 980-4788 for live, off-air and confidential advice, offered free of charge.
Phone lines open at 9:00 p.m. MT/PT and close at 12:00 midnight MT / 11:00 p.m. PT.
Also, the show airs the same night (Wednesday, April 2) on IdahoPTV's High Definition channel (sub-channel 5) at 7:00/6:00 p.m. MT/PT. However, the phones do not open until the analog broadcast begins at 9:00 p.m. MT/PT.

Our thanks to the AARP volunteers for their generous assistance with the phonebank.
