INTERNET WORK SHEET

1.	You will access the State of Idaho's Web Page.

	To begin your search, you can click on the hot link
	to the State of Idaho page via the Saved by the Bill
	web site (http://...) or  enter the address for the
	State of Idaho at (http://www.state.id.us).


2.	You will locate a bill to examine.
	
	Scroll down the page.  Under "Government," locate the
	Legislative Branch.
  
	Notice the categories.  Click on the current's year
	legislation to view a bill's text and history.

	You now have two options:  "Mini-Data Bill Status
	Information" and "Legislative Topic Index to Bills."
	Click on "Mini-Data Bill Status Information"

	You now have a list of House and Senate Bills.  Scroll down.
	When you see a bill that sounds intriguing, click on
	the colored number for the bill.

	If you are tired of looking there and want to find
	a bill on a particular topic, go back to two steps
	and click on "Legislative Topic Index to Bills." Now
	you can search for a bill by topic.  If you see one
	here, click on the colored number for the bill.

	Write here the letter and number of the bill you have
	decided to read more about:


3.	You will locate the history of the bill.

	Click on the bill number.  Scroll to the "Daily
	Data Tracking History."

	Write here the sponsor of the bill (either a name or a
	committee)

	Write here the title and a brief summary of the purpose
	of this bill:


4.	You will read the text of the bill.

	Scroll down to the bill text.

	Write here the section(s) of the Idaho Code
	that the bill amends (adds, deletes or creates) 
	It's a number like 33-4124a

	Briefly summarize here how the bill proposes
	to change the Idaho Code. What do you think the
	bill would do?  Read the deletions--in italics,
	and additions, in boldface type.  
	Interpret these in your own words.



5.	You will locate information about the first
	committee to which your bill was referred. 

	You need to go back to the page for the State
	Legislature ( about three clicks on the Back
	button.)  Instead of clicking on the current
	year's legislation, you need to click on either
	the House or Senate, depending on whether your
	bill begins with "S" or "H."

	Click on the Senate (or House) Committees,
	Scroll down to the committee that your bill to
	which your bill was first referred.  Fill in
	the blanks below:

	Abbreviation of committee:

	Full name of committee:

	Committee Leadership( Chair, Co-Chair,
	Vice Chair, names and titles)

	Republicans				Democrats


6.	You will locate the section in the
	Idaho Code (Idaho Statutes) that your
	bill proposes to amend.

	Go back to the State Legislature page that
	had the current year's legislation.  Scroll
	down and click on "Idaho Statutes--WAIS". Scroll
	down to "Retrieve by Section Number." Type in the
	numbers of the section(s) you bill amends. Click
	on "retrieve."
