The fourth season opens with the arrival of Gabriel Cochrane, a handsome and once wealthy owner of a large iron foundry. Since the bankruptcy of his business and his wife's death, he is penniless and homeless. Dorcas offers him a job as blacksmith, and a room above the forge. G
