Dialogue  "Colum McCann"  Marcia Franklin talks with Colum McCann, author of Let the Great World Spin. The book, which has been called the "first great 9/11 novel," won the 2009 National Book Award for fiction, and was Amazon.com's 2009 Book of the Year. The interview is part of Dialogue's ongoing "Conversations from the Sun Valley Writers' Conference" and was taped at the 2011 conference.G

Half The Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide   Diane Lane and Nicholas Kristof are in Somaliland, where one in 12 women dies in childbirth. They meet with the founder of the country's first maternal health facility and visit villages where hospital-trained midwives work. America Ferrera and Kristof visit India's Kaighat red-light district where a woman and her shelter program working to break the tradition of forced prostitution passed from mother to daughter. Olivia Wilde joins Kristof in Kenya to see how women entrepreneurs are changing their lives and their communities through micro-financing. Part 2 of 2G

Employing an ingenious new camera technique, called "passing the camera", Fox creates a documentary language that mirrors the special way women communicate. D

Global Voices  "Family Portrait In Black and White"  Olga Nenya, from a small Ukrainian town, is raising 16 black orphans in a country of Slavic blue-eyed blondes. Carole King - James Taylor Live at the Troubadour   This 2007 performance celebrating the 50th anniversary of Los Angeles' Troubadour nightclub sparks the 2010 Troubadour Reunion Tour with the two musicians touring the nation together. Forty years before this concert in the same nightclub, Taylor urged King to emerge as an artist from behind her piano. They return to the intimate setting, and the familiar songs rekindle the pair's love of making music together.
