The book, which has been called the "first great 9/11 novel," won the 2009 National Book Award for fiction, and was Amazon.com's 2009 Book of the Year. Bluegrass Underground  "Jim Lauderdale"  Equal parts Rhinestone Cowboy and Borscht Belt comic, two-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter/guitarist Jim Lauderdale's talents dance across the worlds of country (writing hits for George Jones and George Strait), rock (writing with Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter), Americana and bluegrass (with icon Ralph Stanley). Featuring Randy Kohrs on tenor vocals/dobro and the Steeldrivers' Richard Bailey on banjo, the Jim Lauderdale Bluegrass Band is unique and an absolute must-see performance. D

Colombia's beautiful Caribbean coast gave rise to cumbia, the iconic Colombian rhythm now popular in nearly every corner of Latin America. Host Jacob Edgar discovers sights of Cartagena da Indias alongside Toto la Momposina, one of the most respected figures in Colombian music, who performs with her band on the beach as local children dance along. Call The Midwife   Newly minted midwife Jenny Lee arrives in the East End of London to begin her career in the spring of 1957. After overcoming the initial shock that her new home, Nonnatus House, is a convent and not a private hospital, she soon is immersed in her new life. Living with nuns and working in a community of colorful characters are entirely new experiences for Jenny, who comes from an affluent country home.G
