NOVA  "Decoding Neanderthals"  A team led by geneticist Svante Paabo announces in 2010 they have reconstructed much of the Neanderthal genome, and the analysis shows modern humans and their Neanderthal cousins interbred widely outside Africa. The film looks at these findings and a range of new evidence for Neanderthal self-expression and language.G

Everyday Edisons  "An Idea, An Invention, An Opportunity"  See what happens when we post our casting calls for new inventions and product ideas online! Thousands of "would-be inventors" submit their ideas and it's a challenge for our Everyday Edisons team to narrow it down to the top finalists. Things really get exciting when we fly them to Charlotte for the "red carpet" treatment complete with paparazzi, cocktail reception and a gourmet dinner. Facing the judges the next day nerves, tears and exultation overwhelm the hopeful contenders as they know they must dazzle the judges with their presentations. D

Everyday Edisons  "Finally! Finalists!"  Drum roll please! 50 hopefuls become 11 chosen inventors for Everyday Edisons this season and their reactions are from stunned to exuberance. In this episode, we meet the inventors and learn what makes them tick. We go to their homes via Skype and HomeCam, see what inspires them and watch just how they came up with their unique inventions. D

Scientific American Frontiers  "Alien Invasion"  This program explores the impact that invasive species and viruses have on environmental and human health around the world. Increasingly, foreign animal and plant species jump national and international boundaries and wreak havoc on ecosystems that offer no natural resistance or predators to the unwelcome guests. Alda looks at some of the most egregious aliens and what's being done to control them. D
