Nature  "A Murder of Crows"  Often dismissed by humans as a general nuisance, crows are social creatures that chat with each other in at least two different dialects and as many of 250 distinct calls. They mate for life, mourn their dead and raise their young for up to five years. The show reports on research by University of Washington professor John Marzluff, as well as work at New Zealand's University of Auckland and Austria's Konrad Lorenz Institute.G

Outdoor Idaho  "Trip to the Moon"  One early traveler called it the strangest 75 square miles in North America. Characterized by one of the only continental hot spots in the world, Craters of the Moon encompasses three quarters of a million acres of lava flows, sagebrush, rolling hills... and a few surprises. Part of it is managed by the National Park Service, as a national monument. And it may be as close as any of us will ever come to a trip to the moon.G

Dialogue  "Annette Gordon-Reed"  The historian speaks with host Marcia Franklin during the Sun Valley Writers' Conference. Gordon-Reed won the 2008 National Book Award and the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for her book on Thomas Jefferson and the Hemings slave family, which he owned.G

Now NATURE returns to compare contemporary Cuba with Caribbean neighbors, who have poisoned or paved over their ecological riches, and to speculate how Cuba's natural treasures are now facing an onslaught by the 21st century.G
