America ReFramed  "After Happily Ever After"  After Happily Ever After is Emmy winning filmmaker Kate Schermerhorn's quirky, funny and movingpersonal quest for the secret to a happy marriage and for answers to some timely questions about an institution which might just be due for some review. This engaging doc features an eclectic mix of long married couples - from a couple who dress alike every day; to a pair of nudists and a newlywed pair of mothers, to a feisty English widow. A lively and world-renowned group of marriage experts - including psychologist John Gottman (who can predict divorce with 90% accuracy), marrriage historian Stephanie Coontz, and a Beverly Hills divorce attorney, ground the film in fact as they piece together the history and possible future and motivations for marriage. American Masters  "Trumbo"  This program is adapted from his son Christopher's 2003 play and based on the remarkable letters Dalton Trumbo wrote during the devastation wrought by the "Red Scare" in the mid-20th century. With credits for Kitty Foyle and Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo to his name -- and the anti-war novel Johnny Got His Gun -- the young Trumbo was one of the highest paid Hollywood writers. Refusing to testify before the HUAC in '47, he was part of the group known as the Hollywood Ten; convicted for contempt, he spent 11 months in federal prison and lost all right to ply his craft. D

American Masters  "A Letter to Elia"  Martin Scorsese and co-director-writer Kent Jones fashion a film about director Elia Kazan that reveals the man through his work. Clips from his films are layered and juxtaposed with archival footage of Kazan himself being interviewed. This is interspersed with straight-to-camera exposition from Scorsese. The script emphasizes Kazan's use of realism, locations and subtlety of performances.G
