Part II: Striving for individual expression, Romantic painters Goya, Gericault, and Delacroix demonstrated a range of styles and subjects. D

Artifacts & Fiction: Workshop In American Literature  "Workshop 5. Domestic Architecture"  Furniture placement and interior design are two of many aspects of domestic architecture that relay information about social attitudes and norms of behavior. This session explores what these interior spaces reveal about the cultural setting and period of a literary text. D

Science In Focus: Force and Motion  "Making An Impact"  What would happen if an asteroid were to hit the surface of the earth? How large a crater would the impact create? In this workshop, the ideas of force and motion are introduced, as seventh-grade students drop balls to simulate asteroid impacts. By varying a ball's mass, the height from which it is dropped, or the material being struck, the students explore what factors affect the size of the crater. They also learn about data collection and the proper use of measurement units.G

Hands On Crafts for Kids  "Shadows"  The definition of a shadow is a dark image projected onto a surface when light is blocked by the shade of an object. It's what gives your project dimension. First, make silhouettes of your friends. D

Signing Time!  "Going Outside"  Alex, Leah, Hopkins and Rachel experience the great outdoors while learning signs for nature. D

Vivian visits Warren at Brother's farm to talk about the Eastern Carolina ingredient with a cult following, the cabbage collard. Vivian prepares for an event called Terra Vita, where she will serve three courses to 100 people and make collards the star they deserve to be. D

Ask This Old House  "Fitting A Mattress Up A Narrow Staircase/Repairing a Light-Switch in Seattle"  Tom helps a homeowner fit a box spring mattress up a narrow staircase. Kevin and an electrician repair a light switch in Seattle. Richard shows many options for filtering drinking water. D

Rick Steves' Europe  "Denmark: Beyond Copenhagen"  Rick visits Aarhus with its ruddy affluence, charming open-air museum and well-preserved ancient bog man. Roskilde is impressive with its royal burial church and the best Viking ship museum anywhere.G

Rudy Maxa's World  "South Africa: Safari"  Rudy experiences the wildlife of South Africa - lions, giraffes, elephants and dozens of other animals in their natural habitat. Wildlife photographer Joe Pontecorvo films this episode to bring the excitement of the wild into the living room.G

Theater Talk   Prolific writer/actor Charles Busch and actress Julie Halston join us to discuss Busch's new play The Tribute Artist, about a man who begins impersonating his elderly landlady after she dies, in order to keep her Greenwich Village townhouse. Also, actor/playwright John Cariani and Transport Group Artistic Director Jack Cummings III discuss their revival of Cariani's romantic comedy Almost, Maine, which ran briefly Off-Broadway in 2006 but has since gone on to become one of the frequently licensed plays around the world and the number one most produced play in American high schools, passing Shakespeare, Spoon River Anthology and even Our Town. D

Closer to Truth  "What Is Time?"  To appreciate Time is to touch the texture of reality. Does Time differ from our common perceptions of it? Is Time fixed or flexible?. D
