PBS Arts from Los Angeles: Il Postino from LA Opera   Acclaimed Mexican composer Daniel Catans has adapted the popular1994 film Il Postino as an opera, which was premiered by LA Opera in October 2010. Based on a novel by Antonio Skarmeta, Il Postino recounts the fictionalized story of Mario, a fisherman on a Mediterranean island whose life is transformed by the arrival of exiled Chilean poet Pablo Neruda.G

Will eight years of war, more than $700 billion, the sacrifice of thousands of lives and the work of more than a million Americans create a stable democracy in Iraq? Hitchcock (Bridgeport to Baghdad) investigates these questions in his latest documentary, taped while he was embedded with the West Virginia National Guard's 151st Military Police Battalion. D
