In this workshop, you will see several classrooms where inquiry learning is taking place and explore numerous strategies you can use in your own classroom. D

Crafting at the Spotted Canary  "Things That Organize"  Message boards, chore charts, and calendars - let's get organized! First, create a tricked out message board. Next, kids will love this chore chart embellished with colorful papers, stickers, and pockets. Last, guest expert Elizabeth Barboza designs a family calendar to keep track of all the important activities in your everyday life. D

Crafting at the Spotted Canary  "Things That Are Lacey"  We all like to feel pretty and lace is one of those designs that makes everything beautiful. Stamps and punches are great tools for adding lace to everyday iteMs. Pillows for the couch can be stamped with lace, you can stamp a piece of fabric for a new-look to a chair, and paper can be punched to make a delicate wreath for the door to welcome your friends. D

Globe Trekker  "Around The World - Pacific Journeys: Tonga to New Caledonia"  Zay Harding concludes his grand Pacific adventure heading further west across the South Sea Islands into Tonga, Fiji and New Caledonia - islands whose histories have been shaped by brutal tribal conflicts and British and French colonization.G

Globe Trekker  "Around The World - Silk Road: X'ian to Kashgar"  In China, Megan McCormick follows the legendary trade route along which caravans of treasures once found their way into Europe.G

Globe Trekker  "Around The World - Silk Road: Kashgar to Istanbul"  Holly Morris picks up the journey in Central Asia. She crosses the Jiptik Pass to Osh, and explores the Kingdom of Samarkand and Bukhara. She travels the desert of Turkmenistan to the lost city of Merv and heads to the modern capital of Baku in Azerbaijan. Her trek ends in the rich bazaars of Istanbul.G

Globe Trekker  "Around The World - East to West: Istanbul to Vienna"  Ian Wright starts in Istanbul to follow historic trails into the Balkans where once the Ottomans pushed into Europe. Crossing the Black Sea into Bulgaria he explores vampire myths before continuing to Serbia. From the Croatian coast he takes a road trip to Dubrovnik, Split and Rijeka, checks out a thermal lake in Hungary and then heads to Vienna.G

Other recipes from the Gulf coast are Grilled Grouper and Peach Couscous and Texas Cowboy Chili Stew. The Kitchen Goddess shares the secrets of making the perfect Sangria. D

Rick Steves' Europe  "Scotland's Islands and Highlands"  Rick tosses a caber (log) at a Scottish clan gathering, remembers Highland massacres and takes a ferry to Iona.G
