But Standard Oil millionaire Henry Morrison Flagler had a vision for the lush, subtropical territory, one that he believed would bring untold commerce, people and riches to the as yet untamed land. It involved a railroad network, built through his iron will, vast riches and sheer determination that though short-lived, had far-reaching effects that are still felt today, 100 years after the first train pulled into Key West. D

Marion's Triumph: Surviving History's Nightmare   In 1938 the Blumenthal family attempted to escape Nazi Germany but became trapped in Holland when their passenger ship was bombed. Holocaust survivor Marion Blumenthal Lazan now talks of her six years in various refugee, transit and prison camps. She travels to schools, organizations, synagogues and churches worldwide to share her message of love, respect and tolerance. The documentary is based on Lazan's book Four Perfect Pebbles.G

History Detectives   A Missouri woman, while writing a book about her late brother who was killed in Vietnam, became friends with one of her brother's battalion-mates. The man said he had a diary found on the chest of a dead North Vietnamese after a battle and would like it retuned to the soldier's family. The woman contacted HISTORY DETECTIVES and Wes Cowan with a research team worked for months on the puzzle. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta also became involved.G
