Outdoor Idaho  "Jewel of the North"  The water is so clear and the colors so intense that people sometimes mistake photographs of Priest Lake for Hawaii! In the 1920's silent-movie star Nell Shipman came to the most northern of Idaho's big lakes to produce her silent films. Today the area is a magnet for campers, fishermen, rock climbers, skiers and anyone who loves magical settings. This is, truly, one of the world's beautiful lakes.G

Tutu All the Time: Katerina is wearing her favorite sparkly tutu at school today! She likes to wear it all the time, even when she's painting and playing "grizzly bear" with her friends. D

He combined a lyrical focus on desperate, low-life characters with a persona that seemed to embody the same lifestyle, which he sang about.G

Rick Steves' Europe  "Istanbul"  Rick loses his way in the Grand Bazaar, munches through the famously fragrant Spice Market and follows the fall of the ancient capital of Byzantium and the rise of Islam at the city's wall.G

Smart Travels - Europe with Rudy Maxa  "Alpine Christmas"  Hot-spiced cider and strains of "O Tannenbaum" warm our hearts as we head to Europe for Christmas. Switzerland has a special glow this time of year and we find plenty of good cheer in the bright Christmas markets and toasty ski lodges. We begin in the magical atmosphere of Zurich, with its glittering trees and festive music. D

The Desert Speaks  "Treasures of the Galapagos"  The second of three episodes in the Galapagos Islands finds host David Yetman hunting large cacti on a desert island. Along the way, he discovers flamingos in the middle of a huge lava lake, ghost crabs (so named for their quick disappearing act) and a variety of plant species endemic to certain islands. Yetman also explores the nesting grounds of sea turtles and finds a unique post office on the island of Floreana where pirates and whalers have used the same wooden container for centuries to leave or take mail depending on its destination. The kids get to play in the snow and slide on a frozen pond for the first time. Cretaceous Conifers - The whole Pteranodon family have fun celebrating Mom's favorite holiday, Winter Solstice. They learn about large conifer (evergreen) trees and help decorate them at a holiday party. D
