
The year 2002 marks the INEEL Scholastic Tournament's 12th year of celebrating high school brainpower in Idaho. Close to 1,000 students from 80 high schools across Idaho began competing four months ago, all working toward a state championship.Idaho Public Television broadcasted the finals on Saturday, March 23, 2002.
Teams competed in three classes, based on their school's enrollment size- large schools in Class A, medium-size schools in Class B and small schools in Class C.
In Class A: Skyline over Preston, Class B: Kimberly over Marsh Valley, and Class C: Logos over Potlatch.
The three Idaho state champions will go to theU. S. Department of Energy's National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., May 3-6. Congratulations to Skyline High School, which in 2001 finished higher than any previous Idaho team at the national tournament. The Grizzlies finished in a tie for seventh place and received a check for $1,000 for placing in the top 16.
