For 38 years, MASTERPIECE has enthralled audiences with the works of the finest classic and contemporary writers interpreted by the world’s foremost actors. The 2009-2010 titles continue the tradition of outstanding stories and great acting. MASTERPIECE MYSTERY! finishes its season in October. Then MASTERPIECE CONTEMPORARY picks up the banner and features stories like Naomie Harris’ Small Island; and The 39 Steps, a spy thriller immortalized by Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 film. Coming to MASTERPIECE CLASSIC this winter is an all new production of Emma with Romola Garai, Michael Gambon and Johnny Lee Miller starring in the Jane Austin story.

The show that takes experts to venues across the United States, providing free appraisals of people’s antiques and collectibles, scored its first $1 million estimate in Raleigh, North Carolina, for an episode that airs in 2010. The amazed owner is a schoolteacher who inherited the treasure from her mother. Other stops for the 2010 season include Madison, Wisconsin; Denver, Colorado; Phoenix, Arizona; and San Jose, California. The English predecessor of the series, ANTIQUES ROADSHOW UK, airs Thursdays at 7:00/8:00 p.m. MT/PT, also on the Idaho Channel.

Rick Steves’ Europe

Saturdays at 6:30/5:30 p.m. MT/PT on the Idaho Channel
Rick crisscrosses Europe from Denmark to Greece, from Spain to the Czech Republic, with time to take a canal barge, build a barrel, wander Salvadore Dali’s home, hop a water taxi, and marvel at ships in bottles. He connects with people who have found their niche in life and who dish up travel fun with a contagious joie de vivre. Along the way, Rick tries to make history real and cultural differences crisp and meaningful.
