In this season of giving, we are humbled by the support from our viewers, like YOU, who make it possible for Idaho Public Television to provide the programs, local productions and educational outreach opportunities that enrich, educate and inspire us all.

Highlights of this year’s DecemberFest include:

  • A new hourlong special, State of Change on Outdoor Idaho explores the astounding changes that are affecting Idaho’s communities, public lands and wildlife — and finds reasons for optimism among the unease.

  • America Test Kitchen 20th Anniversary Special features all-time best recipes (voted on by you, the viewers!), along with the cast members' behind-the-scenes stories from their time in the test kitchen. You'll also hear from some of the show’s biggest fans and see brand-new footage of the cast — even Jack and Adam — in the kitchen, preparing some of your favorite recipes.

  • Classic Christmas – My Music, hosted by Gavin MacLeod (The Love Boat) and Marion Ross (Happy Days), casts a nostalgic spotlight on traditional carols, popular standards, children’s tunes and romantic selections performed by Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, Judy Garland, The Carpenters, Andy Williams, Rosemary Clooney and many others.

  • Albion Normal: A Teachers College on Idaho Experience tells the story of Albion Normal School. When Idaho first became a state in 1890, leaders recognized the need for grade-school teachers to serve the small pioneering communities found in early Idaho. So lawmakers opened Albion Normal School, a college for teachers.

As we look forward to a new year, we want to thank YOU for supporting Idaho Public Television. From manger scenes and mistletoe to wintry wonderlands, RICK STEVES' EUROPEAN CHRISTMAS celebrates the Christmas season throughout the European continent. In the special, Rick visits friends and families in England, France, Norway, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy to reveal their customs and practices of the holiday season. He begins his travels in England, where the Christmas pudding is the real centerpiece of a traditional English holiday meal. In Paris, the Eiffel Tower heralds the season with its red, twinkling lights. And in the countryside of Tuscany, villagers stack neat pyramids of wood for great bonfires. Set against the magical backdrop of the Arctic, NATURE "Snow Bears" is a dramatized story based on the extraordinary adventures and life-changing journey of newborn polar bear cubs as they leave the safety of their den for the first time. Bravely led by their mother, the cubs must make the perilous 400-mile voyage to the sea to feed. Encountering many dangers along the way - Arctic foxes, roaming bears ready to kill, extreme weather, snowdrifts and ice cracks - they undertake an epic survival challenge. These cubs are rarely seen in their natural habitat, and "Snow Bears" is a unique glimpse into their world. Kate Winslet narrates.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the international stage phenomenon, the show's producer Cameron Mackintosh stages a one-time concert at the O2 Arena in London. More than 300 actors and musicians take part. Tenor Alfie Boe, who sings the part of Jean Valjean, will be in Sun Valley later this year and a ticket opportunity is available when pledging support. On the day of the concert, London was home to three simultaneous productions of the musical: the long-running original production at the Queen's Theater, the new 25th anniversary production at the Barbican, and the concert. Cast members from both stage productions and members of the 1985 London cast also took part in the concert.
