Primary Sources: Workshops In American History  "Disease and History: Typhoid Mary and the Search For Perfect Control"  This workshop looks at the history of infectious disease in America, particularly typhoid, diphtheria, and polio, and their "conquest" by medical research and public health regulation. With the aid of contemporary medical journal articles and New York City health records, the onscreen participants investigate the medical and civil liberties issues exemplified by the case of "Typhoid Mary" Mallon. Facing off as either Board of Health officials or friends of Mary Mallon, workshop participants debate the typhoid carrier's fate.G

They take turns trying to surprise him, and when they finally do, they're the ones surprised when they learn that not only can Luis roll, but he can even run underwater! Back at home, they follow Luis' advice and are now able to somersault! The super readers soar into the book Monty's Adventures in Music Town and meet a loveable monster named Monty who has the very same problem. Will the super readers be able to help Monty pick an instrument before the big show, or will their efforts fall flat? Educational Objectives: To learn some basic music concepts. Young viewers will catch the alphabet, rhyme with OW words, find out what the word "woodwind" means, and use the power to read to change the story. D

Dinosaur Train  "Haunted Roundhouse/Big Pond Pumpkin Patch"  Dad takes the kids on a special Night Train to Troodon Town, where the Troodons have decorated their Roundhouse into a "haunted house" for a spooky party. The kids end up meeting a strange new nocturnal creature - a mammal named Vlad Volaticotherium, who was hiding in the roundhouse trying to get some sleep. The Pteranodon family learns more about the customs of their neighbors, the Lambeosaurus family, when they are invited for the first time to accompany them to the Big Pond to celebrate "Gourd Day" - a kind of Mesozoic Halloween. D

Sesame Street  "Humpty Dumpty's Big Break"  Telly is very worried about Humpty Dumpty falling off the wall, but Humpty explains that he is there to watch a football game. Just as the game is about to start, one of All the King's Horses comes limping in and says he can't play. It's Humpty's dream to play football, so he offers to replace him, but Telly is very worried that Humpty will break. D

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood  "A Trip To The Enchanted Garden/A Trip To The Crayon Factory"  A Trip to the Enchanted Garden - The Tiger family is making strawberry pancakes for breakfast this morning, but when Mom looks more closely in the kitchen, she realizes there are no more strawberries left. They all head to the Enchanted Garden, where Mom Tiger shows Daniel the strawberry patch. Daniel is very curious, and learns that if he looks closely, he may be able to answer his own questions about how strawberries grow and learn something new. D

Sid The Science Kid  "Where Did The Water Go?"  While brushing his teeth, Sid wonders what happens to all the dirty water when it goes down the drain. At The Science Center, Sid and his friends explore how water travels in and out of our homes through pipes. And here's something Sid and his friends never realized: there's lots of water in the world, but you can't drink it all! We can only use fresh water, and there aren't a lot of fresh water sources in the world. D

WordWorld  "Flying Ant/The Dancing Duck Bonanza"  Flying Ant - WordWorld is all abuzz - today is the Insect Air Show! All the bugs in WordWorld take to the sky to show off their flying skills. All the insects, that is, except Ant, who can't fly. But Ant is a smart, industrious WordFriend, and with the help of his best pal Pig, he finds just the right word to give him the lift he needs to be the hit of the show. D

Caillou  "Changing Plans"  Caillou learns to cope with change. It's raining outside but there is no stopping Caillou! He sees a robin catch a worm and is thrilled when he finds a worm of his own. WordGirl  "Have Snob, Will Travel/Tobey's Playground Calamity"  HAVE SNOB, WILL TRAVEL - Unable to choose the most valuable items to steal, The Butcher kidnaps Reginald the jeweler and uses him for his knowledge of fine artifacts. Amidst a fence painting contest, Becky must put her paint brush down so that WordGirl can rescue Reginald and stop the Butcher's stealing spree. Vocabulary Words: Formal, Fret. D

Wild Kratts  "Masked Bandits"  As they prepare for a creature costume party, the Wild Kratts team begins to notice all sorts of strange things happening in the Tortuga HQ. When the gang sets out to discover who is causing all the trouble, they discover that certain animals gravitate towards human habitation because it provides food and protection from predators. D

Digit brings the kids into cyberspace to help fix her, but the special coolant Motherboard needs, cryoxide, is found only in Castleblanca - and the supply is closely monitored! To bring back exactly enough cryoxide for Motherboard, the kids have to figure out the exact volume of Motherboard's tank. In the process, they discover the importance of a standard unit of measure - and fill a most unusual container with the precious cryoxide. D

Live from the Artists Den  "Rufus Wainwright"  In the Church of the Ascension, on Manhattan's lower Fifth Avenue, Wainwright opens with the song "Candles," which tells the story of searching for a place to light a memorial for his late mother, singer Kate McGarrigle. Resplendent in tails and gold sequined pants, Wainwright pays additional tribute to McGarrigle during the 22-song set with an emotional solo rendition of her "On My Way to Town" before closing with the rousing, disco-flavored "Bitter Tears."G
