Waldman's first novel, The Submission tells the story of a jury, in charge of selecting a ground zero-like memorial from among anonymous submissions, and the reactions when it chooses a design created by a Muslim-American architect.G

Sesame Street  "The Camouflage Challenge"  Elmo is taking pictures of his friends when they hear someone say something. It's Camouflage Carla! When Daniel and Prince Wednesday go through their bedtime routines together, Daniel realizes how different it is sleeping at Prince Wednesday's castle. As bedtime nears, Daniel and Prince Wednesday notice some things that are just a little bit scary. D

Rick Steves' Europe  "Milan and Lake Como"  Rick peeks at Italy's highest fashion, fanciest delis, grandest cemetery and greatest opera house in Milan, plus takes in Leonardo da Vinci's painting of The Last Supper.G

Smart Travels - Europe with Rudy Maxa  "Alpine Christmas"  Hot-spiced cider and strains of "O Tannenbaum" warm our hearts as we head to Europe for Christmas. Switzerland has a special glow this time of year and we find plenty of good cheer in the bright Christmas markets and toasty ski lodges. We begin in the magical atmosphere of Zurich, with its glittering trees and festive music. D

The Desert Speaks  "The Driest Desert in the World"  The Pan-American Highway stretches thousands of miles from Alaska to the southern tip of Chile and includes a jaunt through the extremely arid coastal desert of Peru. From Peru's capital city of Lima, hit the road on an adventure through this "driest desert in the world." The first stop is the Ballestas Islands 15 miles off the coast and home to a rich array of marine life. D

Ciao Italia  "Seafood Feast/La Festa Di Frutti Di Mare"  All hands on deck as Mary Ann harvests a great bounty from her local fishmonger to create an elegant Sicilian Mussel Soup. Then she keeps it simple but superb with her famous Scallops in Vinaigrette, followed by a heavenly Clams Vasto Style. D

Taste of History  "Dolley & James Madison - Entertaining at Montpelier, Part 1"  Dolley Madison was the toast of Washington, hosting her famous "squeeze" parties at the White House first for Thomas Jefferson, and then for her husband, James. When the Madisons left Washington, they continued these traditions at Montpelier, their lavish home in Virginia. Chef Walter throws a party, Dolley-style, making ice cream with Dolley and cooking up a feast, which includes Artichokes, Veal Kidney Dijonnaise, Hoppin' John and Cornmeal Fried Catfish for their guests. D

9:30 am 
Simply Ming  "Modern Azorean Cuisine"  Steeped in tradition, the islands that make up the Azores are rich with culinary traditions that will be shared as Simply Ming goes "on the road". Ming shops in a local market where he discovers the vast array of local fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses. He joins a celebrated chef from the cooking school on the island of Sao Miguel, and together the two cook on the fly using their market ingredients to come up with dishes that reflect Azorean culinary traditions but with a modern day twist. D

The Jazzy Vegetarian  "Meatless-Meatloaf Supper"  Host Laura Theodore prepares her vegetarian version of traditional meatloaf and mashed potatoes. She begins with "Wonderful Walnut Mushroom Loaf," which is reminiscent of the classic meat version. Low calorie, "Mashed Potatoes and Cauliflower;" taste like creamy mashed spuds without the cream! "Sesame Green Beans" round out the menu. D

10:30 am 
Martha Bakes  "Pate A Choux"  Martha demystifies pate a choux by demonstrating how easy it is to make. Though it may seem intimidating, it's made with only four ingredients and cooked on the stovetop. Once mastered, it can be used to make cream puffs, eclairs, profiteroles and cheesy gougeres. D

11:00 am 
Austin City Limits  "Alejandro Escovedo/Trombone Shorty"  Rock and funk collide with this performance. Escovedo blasts out cuts from his LP Street Songs of Love. Trombone Shorty follows with a heavy dose of New Orleans funk'n' roll.G

12:00 pm 
Sesame Street  "Sesame Street-O-Saurus"  Grover, Elmo, and Rosita are imaging that they are Paleontologists, scientists who dig through dirt and stones to find fossils. Chris explains that fossils are what are left of a plant or an animal that lived a long time ago. The first thing they find in the dirt is a colorful, metal soup ladle which Grover thinks is a bone from a dinosaur. D

1:00 pm 
Dinosaur Train  "Dinosaur Train Submarine: Otto Opthalmosaurus/King Meets Crystal"  When the Pteranodon family takes the Dinosaur Train under the sea to visit their friend Elmer Elasmosaurus, they learn that the Elasmosaurus family is going away from the station to follow their food, the fish. Buddy wants to follow, but the train tunnel doesn't go that way - so the Conductor decides to take the family in a brand-new invention, the Dinosaur Train Submarine! On their journey, they meet a marine reptile called Otto Opthalmosaurus, who guides the submarine deeper than it's ever been, and even helps them find their way out of a sea cave. During a day at Troodon Town Music Festival, the Pteranodon family and King Cryolophosaurus hear a wonderful singer named Crystal Cryolophosaurus. D

Super Why!  "The Great Robot Race"  Ready.steady.splat! Whyatt and his puppy want to win the porridge race, but the bowl of breakfast cereal keeps falling off the puppy's back. D

2:00 pm 
Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!  "Manatees and Mermaids/The Last Chocolate"  Manatees and Mermaids - Sally and Nick are pretending to swim, but why not go for a real swim asks the Cat! Off to the Glippydrippy Gulf to meet Matilda the Manatee and her son Marlin. Matilda and Marlon teach their guests how to swim slowly and gracefully. Until they hear the sound of a boat motor! Those can be dangerous for manatees, but luckily the Cat, Nick and Sally help their new friends to stay safe. D

2:30 pm 
Wild Kratts  "Tortuga Tune Up"  Aviva loves the Tortuga design, but feels there's something missing. Martin and Chris realize it can't really swim, so they decide to get some bio inspiration for this feature by exploring the world of the sea turtles. D

3:00 pm 
Sara's Weeknight Meals  "Salad: It's Easy Being Green"  Versatile, easy-to-make salads will please even the hungriest eater the way Sara does it, with enough protein to stick to your ribs and a huge supporting cast of vegetables. Think about Warm Steakhouse Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing - it's so rich and filling you'll forget it's a salad. Crunchy Falafel Salad with Creamy Garlic Dressing will give vegetarians something to shout about. D

Rick Steves' Europe  "Cinque Terre: Italy's Hidden Riviera"  Rick samples village life, fishing for anchovies at midnight, savoring pesto, picking grapes, cheering on cliff divers, and visits quarries where Michelangelo selected marble.G

The Red Green Show  "The New Doctor"  The local Tastee Freeze is converted into Possum Lake Medical Clinic. Red makes a golf cart from a bicycle and plastic piping.G

Keeping Up Appearances - The Memoirs of Hyacinth Bucket   Hyacinth wants to convince Richard that they should buy a small cottage in the country as a retreat, but Richard learns her idea of small differs from his.G

Old Guys  "The Courtesan"  Roy, without a relationship with a woman, visits Katia, who plies an ancient trade. Tom decides to see Katia too. Amber falls for a vicar and takes her dad to church, which he takes an interest in - all of which complicates relationships.G

My Family  "Dog Dazed"  Ben overhears Susan talking about adoption and is relieved when he realizes she is talking about a dog. However, Ben is still unsure, but Susan talks him into looking at the puppies she has in mind. First their home must be vetted to see if it is suitable for the dog.G
