Independent Lens  "Solar Mamas"  Welcome to India's Barefoot College, founded by Bunker Roy to provide rural women living in poverty with an education that empowers them to make their communities self-reliant and sustainable. Rafea -- a 30-year-old Jordanian mother of four -- is traveling outside of her village for the first time to attend Barefoot's solar engineering program. Once there, she will join women like her from Guatemala, Kenya, Burkina Faso and Colombia to learn concrete skills to change their communities. D

American Masters  "Margaret Mitchell: American Rebel"  An Atlanta debutante, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Gone With the Wind challenges social restrictions placed on women; becomes one of Georgia's first female newspaper reporters; and uses money from her book to fund many causes, including scholarships for black medical students. Mitchell (1900-1949) suffers from depression and illness, yet personally answers every letter received about her book and works tirelessly for the American Red Cross during World War II.G
