The blaze rips through the congested loft filled with huge piles of trimmings. Workers try to escape but factory owners keep the doors locked; the inadequate fire escape crumples; and 146 people die. Public outrage forces government action on workplace safety laws.G

NOVA  "Ground Zero Supertower"  NOVA examines the new skyscraper rising up 104 stories from the site where the Twin Towers once stood. This update of "Engineering Ground Zero," goes inside the construction of the tower's final floors and the installation of its 800-ton spire and beacon. The show also goes underground to inspect the multi-billion dollar transit center with its sweeping design.G

Rick Steves' Europe  "Switzerland's Jungfrau Region: Best of the Alps"  If Heidi is alive, she's in this sky-high corner of the Swiss Alps, with cows on breathtaking ridges. After settling into a traditional village where locals scythe hay by hand, we hike, bike, and parasail. We blast an alphorn, get sprayed by waterfalls raging deep inside a mountain, and munch muesli for breakfast at 10,000 feet. D

The Desert Speaks  "The Lost Palm Weavers of Sonora"  The Opatas were probably the largest aboriginal group in what is now Sonora, Mexico but by the 1950s anthropologists could not locate a single speaker of the native language. While the people may be extinct, the Opatas left behind numerous traditions. Join the search in Buena Vista, Sonora for the descendants of Opata palm weavers and explore the tradition of native palm weaving that has survived through the centuries. D
