NOVA  "Dogs Decoded"  Humans have domesticated dogs longer than any other animal and over the centuries, dogs and humans have developed a unique relationship. New research reveals that, as dog lovers already believe, the domestic dog has an uncanny ability to read and respond to human emotions.G

Secrets of the Dead  "The Silver Pharaoh"  The discovery in 1939 of a royal tomb full of lavish jewels and other treasures, and the only-known sarcophagus made of silver all lie forgotten in Cairo with the outbreak of World War II. Now, new investigations into the little-known Pharaoh Psusennes I and his times reveal political intrigue, a lost city and a great leader who united a country in turmoil some 200 years after Ramses II.G

Secrets of the Dead  "China's Terracotta Warriors"  When the first emperor of China wanted an extravagant tomb for his journey into the afterlife, he decreed he would be protected by an army. Artisans have less than two years to complete the massive project using the technology of 2,200 years ago to construct 8,000 life-sized, painted figures. Archaeologist Agnes Hsu shows how it might have been done.G

Statue of Liberty   This Ken Burns film chronicles the creation and history of the Statue of Liberty and what it represents to all Americans. Narrated by David McCullough, the film traces the development of the monument -- from its conception, to its complicated and often controversial construction, to its final dedication -- and offers interviews with a wide range of Americans to explore the meaning of the Statue of Liberty. D

Mount Rushmore: American Experience   Sculptor and native Idahoan Gutzon Borglum propels the largest sculptural project in history on a cliff face in South Dakota. He directs dozens of ordinary Americans throughout the Great Depression in the creation of what some call a monstrosity and others a masterpiece. Michael Murphy narrates. Using newsreels, home movies, and interviews with family members and Rushmore workers, the film probes this uniquely American monument and its artist.G

Anthem   ANTHEM tells the story behind Francis Scott Key's "The Star-Spangled Banner," the song famously penned after the relentless bombardment by the British of Fort McHenry during The War of 1812. Historians and music experts discuss the Colonial-era songs and events that influenced Key to write what would become the U.S. national anthem. D
