We thought our readers/viewers might like to learn about some of the folks that work at IdahoPTV. Because there are so many people who work behind the scenes, you may have seen some of them, or maybe only heard about them. Today we would like to introduce Idaho Reports Associate Producer Logan Finney.

IdahoPTV’s Carol Beres spoke with Logan about living in the Gem State and why he works at IdahoPTV.

An Idaho native, Logan was born and raised in Sandpoint. “I grew up watching PBS,” he remembers. He stayed close to home for college at the University of Idaho. “I started out as a political science major…and working for Idaho Reports is the perfect blend of all of my interests – politics and local journalism.” During his senior year, he interned at Idaho PTV. “I convinced Jeff Tucker (our General Manager) to hire me part-time because right when the internship ended, the pandemic started.”

Speaking of interests, Logan is a big fan of Idaho’s great outdoors. “My favorite part of living in Idaho is access to the outdoors and recreational opportunities. I’ve been skiing since about kindergarten age, so that’s definitely top of the list.” And when it comes to his favorite PBS Kids character, an aardvark named Arthur is number one. “I had an Arthur-themed birthday when I was a kid one year.”

Logan feels Idaho Reports fills an important niche. “At Idaho Reports we try to find the local, relevant information and break down what sort of impact it’s going to have on your day-to-day life, not just politics for politics sake.”

When he’s not covering the issues facing Idahoans, he likes to unwind with a snack. “I love a good Kind granola bar. They have nuts and fruit. They’re still sweet, but not as processed.”  He’s trying knitting, and he likes reading and playing video games. “Just within the last week or two, I’ve started getting into Fortnite, so I can play with my nieces and nephews.”
