Eligibility

• Outdoor Idaho “Iconic Idaho” Photo Contest is open to residents of all 50 United States who are at least 18 years old.
   

Agreement to Official Rules

• Participation in the contest constitutes the entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of Idaho Public Television.
   
• Commercial usage: Outdoor Idaho may post uploaded images on Idaho Public Television social platforms and web pages. No uploaded images will be used for commercial purposes without express permission from the photographer.
   

Contest Period

• The Iconic Idaho Photo Contest is held seasonally, four times per year:
  • Spring: April, May, June (Winners album posted July 1)
  • Summer: July, August, September (Winners album posted October 1)
  • Fall: October, November, December (Winners album posted January 1)
  • Winter: January, February, March (Winners album posted April 1)
     
• Each seasonal contest opens on the 1st day of the first month of that season at 12:00 AM Mountain Time (MT). Submissions and voting remain open throughout the three-month season and close on the 28th day of the final month of the season at 11:59 PM MT.
   

Entry Method

• Submissions will only be accepted via WooBox Entry Form. The seasonal contest WooBox link will be found on the Outdoor Idaho Facebook page and the Outdoor Idaho website.
   
• The current “Outdoor Idaho Program Photo Contest Group” page will no longer be an acceptable way to enter the contest. Users are welcome to share images there, but they will not be considered for the contest.
   

Submission Guidelines

• Only photos of Idaho, taken in Idaho, will be accepted. Non-Idaho photos will be removed.
   
• Participants may submit up to 15 photos per seasonal contest. One photo per entry form.
   
• Participants are not allowed to resubmit photos that have previously been entered, regardless of placing in the contest or not.
   
• No AI-generated photos or photo manipulation will be accepted. Photo manipulation can be defined as altering the content of a photograph by “adding, rearranging, reversing, distorting, or removing people and/or objects from within the frame.”
   
• Any images deemed “unrelated content” will be removed, and the user will be issued a warning. Upon receiving a second warning, the user will be disqualified. Inappropriate content will result in immediate disqualification from all future submissions. 
   

Voting Process

• Public voting will open on the 1st day of the first month of that season at 12:00 AM Mountain Time (MT) and will close on the 28th day of the final month of the season at 11:59 PM MT.
   
• Both contest participants and the general public may vote. Each user may vote once per photo, on all of their favorites.
   
• Users can reopen the “vote” page an unlimited number of times to check for new entries and to continue voting.
   

Winner Notification

• Winners will be notified via Facebook winners album. 
   
• Five winners will be chosen by popular vote in each seasonal contest. 
   
• Similar to the previous contest, each season Outdoor Idaho will create a Facebook album featuring the top 70 most “liked” photos, plus the 5 winners.
   
• Winners must email oiphotocontest@idahoptv.org to claim their prize by the 15th of the month. Prizes not claimed by this deadline will not be awarded.

Why is the contest no longer monthly?

The Iconic Idaho Photo Contest has moved to a seasonal format to allow more time for photographers to explore and submit their best work. The new schedule also helps Outdoor Idaho manage resources while continuing to offer a high-quality contest experience.

Will the winning photographs still receive a prize? 

YES! To recognize their amazing work, the top 5 photographers will receive a special Iconic Idaho t-shirt, and the first place winner will receive a unique Outdoor Idaho prize package, including an Iconic Idaho shirt.

When will winners be announced?

Winners will be announced and posted as a Facebook album on the 1st day of the month following the end of each season:

• July 1 (Spring winners album)
• October 1 (Summer winners album)
• January 1 (Fall winners album)
• April 1 (Winter winners album)
   

Do the photographs submitted have to be taken in or correspond to the seasonal period the album will be released? 

Photos should reflect that season in Idaho, but are not bound by the date photographed. 

How do I submit my photos?

Each season our social media team will post a URL link to the WooBox photo contest. Participants will follow the link to fill out a short form and submit their photos. You can also find the link right here on the Outdoor Idaho website.

How many photos can I submit?

Each participant can submit up to 15 photos per seasonal contest. One photo per entry form.

How do I vote?

Users can vote by following the seasonal contest WooBox link and choosing “vote” at the top of the page.

How many times can I vote?

Each user can vote once per photo, on as many photos as they’d like.

When do entries close each season? When does voting close?

The contest begins on the 1st day of each seasonal contest at midnight MT.  Both submissions AND voting close on the 28th of the final seasonal month at 11:59PM MT. 

Will I be notified if I do NOT win?

No. Due to the number of entries only winners will be contacted with their results.

Can I submit photos if I do not live in Idaho?

Yes! Anyone is welcome to participate, but the photo must have been taken in Idaho.
