On May 30, the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences awarded the 63nd annual Northwest Regional Emmy® Awards for excellence in television.
Idaho Public Television is proud to announce that two of our productions from 2025 were awarded Regional Emmys!
Science Trek: Archaeology
Producer Joan Cartan-Hansen, Producer Andy Lawless, and Director Jenessa Carson won in the Children/Youth/Teens category for the Science Trek topic "Archaeology." The Science Trek: Archaeology web page features 10 short videos, links to archaeology-themed games, classroom resources for educators, facts and links, and an archaeology episode of Science Trek: The Podcast.
"The sweetest part about winning the Emmy is that we had the whole team together to celebrate," says Cartan-Hansen. "I am so lucky to get to work with these folks."
createid: Marcia Franklin
Writer/producer Marcia Franklin won in the Writer-Long Form Content category for her script for "Lifting Legacies: Sculptor Benjamin Victor," a documentary from our Idaho arts-focused series, createid. The documentary goes behind the scenes with master sculptor Benjamin Victor as he creates a bronze statue of “Teacher in Space” Christa McAuliffe. Victor, who lives in Idaho, was commissioned by the state of New Hampshire to memorialize McAuliffe, who died in the explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1986.
“Writing is at the core of what I do as a television producer and host, and it doesn’t always come easily to me,” says Franklin. “So I am very grateful to the judges for this recognition, and also extend my thanks to Troy Shreve, the primary director/videographer/editor of 'Lifting Legacies.'”
