IRA Charitable Distributions
Support Idaho Public Television through your IRA
If you're age 73 or older, you can make a tax-free gift directly from your Traditional IRA to Idaho Public Television. This is known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) and it’s a simple, powerful way to support the programs you love.
Benefits of a QCD
- Counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
- Avoids federal income tax on the distribution
- Can lower your taxable income - even if you don't itemize
- Supports trusted, educational programming statewide
RMD Rules
- If you were born 1951-1959, RMDs begin at age 73
- If you were born 1960 or later, RMDs begin at age 75
Giving Limit
You may give up to $100,000 per year from your IRA to Idaho Public Television through a QCD.
This amount:
- Must be paid directly to a qualified charity
- Cannot be distributed to you first
- Can satisfy all or part of your RMD
